When Fox announced that it was launching Celebrity Weakest Link, the fact that the network was saving the franchise that used to air on NBC was exciting. Given the fact that the network revealed that the new version of the legendary game show was being produced with a celebrity twist, that begged an obvious question. Which famous people would Fox tap to compete on their game show?
Fortunately for reality show fans everywhere, one of the people who agreed to compete on Celebrity Weakest Link was the Big Brother icon, Dr. Will Kirby. Since Dr. Will always has interesting things to say, like when he gave other Big Brother players hilarious advice, his TV comeback is a huge deal. With that in mind, it is fascinating to learn what made the legendary reality show star agree to appear on Celebrity Weakest Link.

Dr. Will Kirby agreed to compete on Celebrity Weakest Link because of Jane Lynch
In December 2025, GeekSided interviewed Dr. Will Kirby about his appearance on Celebrity Weakest Link. During the fascinating conversation that followed, the first question that was asked was simple. What made him want to do Celebrity Weakness Link? In response, Dr. Will instantly revealed that he wanted to compete on the game show so he could interact with its beloved host, Jane Lynch.
“I'm a big Jane Lynch fan... I'm a huge fan of hers… When I got the calI, I'm always ready to perform and to participate, and when someone at the level of Jane Lynch is involved, I'd be foolish to say no, so I was really excited to be there and meet her."
When The Weakest Link first became a hit in North America during the early 2000s, it was largely known for its host at the time, Anne Robinson. Now, the series is hosted by one of the most respected performers in the comedy world over the last couple of decades, Lynch. Considering how great she has been in her wide array of roles, it makes perfect sense that Dr. Will went on to tell GeekSided about how delighted is by the Celebrity Weakest Link host.
“She's so sharp. She is just so witty and so clever, and watching the way her brain works really mesmerizes me.”
Later during the interview, Dr. Will was discussing the calls he regularly receives to appear on different TV shows. At that point in the conversation, the Big Brother icon revealed other elements of the offer to appear on Celebrity Weakest Link that appealed to him. During Dr. Will's appearance on the game show, he competed against other TV doctors, including real medical professionals like himself and actors who portray characters who help patients on TV. Dr. Will explained that getting to appear with TV doctors was exciting for him. More importantly, he stated that he was excited to get to compete for money that would help a charity he cares about, The Turtle Conservancy.
“I get a lot of calls, and some are projects that just don't make any sense at all, but when it's something like this, and it's for charity, and it's fun, and it's television icons, not just doctors, but people I really revere, I was overly excited.”
Knowing that Dr. Will regularly turns down TV appearances makes his decision to appear on Celebrity Weakest Link even more interesting. That is the case because, when he was asked about deciding to appear on Fox's game show, Dr. Will revealed that he got the invite with very little time to spare.
“I'm pretty sure I was the last one to get the call. When they call you on the Friday, and it's going to film on Tuesday, you know that you weren't their first choice, and I have no problem with that.”
On top of Dr. Will making it clear that he was happy to be recruited for Celebrity Weakest Link in the way that he was, he went further by professing his interest in competing on the game show again in the future. “If there's a Celebrity Weakest Link All-Stars, I would definitely do that, especially anything for charity.” I, for one, would encourage the team behind Celebrity Weakest Link to bring Dr. Will back in the future. After all, he has a long history of being TV gold, and his run on the first edition of Big Brother All-Stars proved that he can be the highlight of a show even while standing beside other TV titans.
Dr. Will Kirby's episode of Celebrity Weakest Link will premiere on Fox on Monday, December 8, 2025 at 9 p.m. ET/PT
