If you're in the same boat as us medical drama fans and really enjoyed Doc starring Molly Parker on Fox earlier this year, then you're also probably eagerly waiting for the second season to get here already! The great news is that the show is on track to arrive on time thanks to an exciting production update that just came out recently.

Doc season 2 is set to start filming this month, June 2025, as the series gears up to work on its second season, according to TheWrap. This is great news as we know that the medical drama is set to return in fall 2025 on Fox.

An exact release date hasn't been set yet, though it's always a relief to know schedules are are on track, and that we can expect the next installment to come in the 2025-2026 fall broadcast television schedule. Like most network shows, it's likely a good chunk of the episodes, at least around half, will be filmed and ready to go for the fall. Then with the winter breaks before returning midseason, the cast and crew continue production to finish it up.

Doc season 2 positive updates are no surprise

This time Parker and her co-stars have much more work to do with the cameras rolling because of a higher season order. It's clear the network is very confident in the show as it's gotten the full season order heading into the next chapter of the story. Season 2 will have a total of 22 episodes, compared to the 10-episode first season. It was also such a relief to get the show's renewal back in February even before the season 1 finale aired.

It's no surprise Fox made these two major decisions as the story certainly puts a unique twist on the medical drama genre, and the series just managed to capture our attention from the very first episode. The Nielsen viewership numbers say it all as well with over 42 million viewers tuning in to season 1, and 16 million tuned in to the first episode, per TheWrap.

The Doc season 1 finale certainly brought with it drama, as well as a satisfying resolution when it comes to Dr. Richard. After trying to place the blame on Amy, who of course has lost the memory of her life from the past eight years, Richard is caught in his lies. She's able to turn him in, and he gets fired and his license suspended. Good riddance.

There's also the fact that Amy's love life in season 2 is going to get more complicated after she and her ex-husband Michael kiss. He tells his pregnant wife, Nora, about it and she tells him they'll talk about it at home. Plus, Jake saw Amy and Michael kissing as well. Where does everyone go from here? We'll find out when the second season arrives in just a few months. I can't wait!

Doc season 2 premieres in fall 2025 on Fox. Episodes from season 1 are currently available to stream on Hulu.
