The Final Three headed to London in the Destination X season 1 finale. No, the city wasn’t the X this time, but a particular monument in the city. Of course, with it being the final, only one could be crowned the winner in the first season of this epic, European-trotting series.
Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for the Destination X season 1 finale.
The finale took the Final Three, Rick, Peter, and Biggy, out of mainland Europe and across the Channel to England. London, England to be exact, which is a beautiful place to end the series. This is a country that’s packed with history, beauty, and fun.
It all started with a trip to The Royal Navy College in Greenwich, to The Painted Hall, otherwise known as the English Sistine Chapel. The trio walked in to artwork of the eliminated contestants in order they were eliminated in.

The first contestant to go home is…
Of course, before there could be a battle for the final X, one player had to go home. Jeffrey Dean Morgan set up a game, which saw everyone have to answer questions from their time on the show. If they got the question right, they would either get to move themselves or another player, but they could only move themselves forward and another player back.
This became important, as Biggy soon found himself moving further and further back as Rick got so many questions right. Biggy tried to counter it with moving Peter, but Rick revealed his “secret” alliance. While this was not quite the secret Rick thought it was with people like Shayne and Mack, it was a secret for Biggy, and he was shocked to learn the truth.
However, with some strategic game play, Rick had no choice but to force his alliance, Peter, back to the far end, meaning that Biggy and Peter had to go head-to-head in a tie-breaker.
They had to guess the number of islands that make up Venice, with the one the furthest away going home. While Biggy guessed 210, Peter guessed 27, and the answer was 118. Yes, there was just one island in it, with Biggy being the furthest away by 92 to Peter’s 91. I don’t think Venice will be somewhere Biggy wants to go back to after that!

Peter and Rick go head to head to find the final Destination X
The two had to race around London with sets of clues to get the final three clues to work out Destination X’s final location. Both of them, unsurprisingly, got all three clues, but would they work out how the three fit together?
They were given a picture of Queen Elizabeth, an hourglass, and a $100 note. As both considered the Tower of London, Rick decided to change his mind. Could it be the Bank of England? It was the picture of Benjamin Franklin on the note that told him where he had to go.
Peter chose the Tower of London, which, sorry, Jeffrey, was not the palace of King Henry VIII. It’s long been associated with Henry VIII because of the many people he sent there, including Anne Boleyn, Katherine Howard, and Thomas Cromwell, but the Tower of London was used as a Royal residence before coronations rather than as a traditional palace.
Back to the game, though. Peter opted for the Tower of London, while Rick chose Big Ben. It turned out that Big Ben was right, with Rick going home with the $250,000.
The series had a lot of highs and lows, and there were some great game twists thrown in. In the end, Rick managed to work out those final clues, but this season has certainly proved that Destination X needs to come back for a second season.
Destination X is available to stream on Peacock.
