Reboots and revivals are all the rage in Hollywood these days, and they don't seem to be slowing down anytime soon. With nostalgia running high and fans eager to revisit their favorite characters, it’s no surprise that studios keep bringing beloved shows back to life.
But do you know the one show that fans have been dying to see revived? Desperate Housewives. We're talking about the hit ABC show that had viewers hooked every week because of its suburban drama, juicy secrets, shocking twists, and complex characters whose intertwined lives made Wisteria Lane a place full of mystery.
From the mid-2000s to the early 2010s, Desperate Housewives was one of the main shows that dominated network television, drawing in viewers from all around the world. That's why it's somewhat surprising that a reboot hasn't happened yet. For a show as popular as Desperate Housewives, I would've thought the powers that be would have jumped at the chance to bring Wisteria Lane back to life by now, especially given the current wave of nostalgic revivals.

While a reboot is not currently in the works, the interest from both fans and original cast members keeps hope alive that Wisteria Lane may soon welcome us back for more drama, secrets, and suspense. For example, former Desperate Housewives star Kyle MacLachlan recently expressed interest in possibly returning to the series if there were to be a reboot.
MacLachlan played the role of Orson Hodge, Bree's second husband, in the mystery comedy-drama series. Orson was introduced in the second installment and remained in the series all the way up to its final season.
In a recent interview with People, MacLachlan shared that he'd be open to returning and reprising his role as Orson if the show were to be revived. He expressed that coming back would be "fun" and mentioned that Wisteria Lane (the show's fictional neighborhood) is still physically around on the Universal Studios lot.
However, he made clear that he’d treat the offer like a brand-new job. He explained that he'd want to see what the writers had in mind for his Orson character, how the role would be handled, and whether it felt right to him. In other words, he would carefully consider it first, just as he would any other new acting role. It would all depend on whether he likes how the character and storyline were being developed for a potential new version of the show.
“If for Desperate Housewives, if that were to come back — [...] and if they would even want me to come back — I'd have to look at the role and kind of get a sense of what they're thinking about for the character. So I would approach it like if it were something completely new and weigh how I feel about the role, and the character, and the process and everything, you know? I would treat it like it were, you know, something else [new] that had come to me and make my judgment on that.”
As mentioned earlier, a Desperate Housewives reboot has not been ordered. However, fans of the series can look forward to an offshoot titled Wisteria Lane. Executive-produced by Kerry Washington, the show is currently in development at Onyx Collective.
