At least one of the former ladies of Wisteria Lane is happy to hear about the new Desperate Housewives series in development. As previously reported, Wisteria Lane is currently being developed by Kerry Washington's Simpson Street and 20th Television. Felicity Huffman, who played Lynette Scavo in the original ABC series, recently told Good Morning America that she thinks it is a "wonderful" idea.

Per Deadline, the actress said she is a fan of Washington's and loves the idea of doing a version of the show that is "with women of color," later joking that she would be happy to work craft service for the ladies.

When asked if she had any ideas for what actress could play Lynette, Huffman said she didn't know but would happy to see what they come up with. That said, it's unclear if Wisteria Lane would be a remake, I imagine they would feature an all-new group of characters rather than just try and recast Lynette, Bree, Susan, Gabi, etc.

The series is being written by Natalie Chaidez and is said to be "inspired" by the comedy-drama show from Marc Cherry. It will be a darkly funny soap like the parent series, following a group of five friends living on the infamous cul de sac, Wisteria Lane.

"On the surface, all the Wisteria neighbors are living the dream: beautiful homes, gorgeous families, shiny SUVs in the driveway. But behind those white-picket fences and smiling Insta posts are secrets."

Desperate Housewives was created by Cherry and ran for eight episodes from 2004 to 2012. By the end of its run, it had produced 180 episodes and picked up many accolades, including Primetime Emmy Awards, Golden Globe Awards, and SAG Awards.

Apart from Huffman as Lynette, the show also featured Teri Hatcher as Susan Mayer, Marcia Cross as Bree Van de Kamp, and Eva Longoria as Gabrielle Solis. Side characters like Edie Britt (Nicollette Sheridan) and Mike Delfino (James Denton) also became quite popular.

The show's first season centered on the shocking suicide of Mary Alice Young, whose actress, Brenda Strong, would continue to narrate the show. As the woman and other neighbors of Wisteria Lane cope with Mary's death, they start to unravel a mystery about what led to that fateful e

Washington will next appear in the third Knives Out movie, Wake Up Dead Man and she will star in Ben Affleck's crime thriller Animals. Right now, Wisteria Lane is still in the early stages of development. But it would be nice to see a return to some of the soapier primetime dramas of the early 2000s, so I'm hoping this one gets picked up to series!
