Crime Scene Kitchen is a delightfully inventive cooking reality competition series on Fox that debuted in 2021 and features an unorthodox guessing game to prompt bakers into doing their best to recreate a mystery dessert. Since it started, the series has been hosted by actor Joel McHale, with Curtis Stone and Yolanda Gampp acting as judges.

Given the veritable bounty of baked goods served up in every episode, it's no surprise that McHale recently revealed he'd gained weight while hosting, adding that for each season, he gained about nine pounds and then would spend the time off between hitting the treadmill. Who can blame him, though? Even when the desserts might be technically "wrong," I'm sure they're still delicious.

McHale got to talking about the weight gain during a recent visit to Late Night with Seth Meyers, per People. Meyers asked the Community alum if he'd picked up any baking tips and McHale said the only thing he really gained was a little under ten pounds.

"Not on the muscle," he joked.

Since McHale isn't judging the desserts, he's not required to sample or try anything, but why wouldn't he? McHale clearly enjoys that part of his job and he's a good host on the show, charismatic and obviously having a good time.

He says that when he gets the "green light to eat sugar," he goes for it. I would do the same thing if I was in his shoes, and I'm sure many others would, too.

Crime Scene Kitchen tasks teams of bakers to try and discern what specific dessert was made in a kitchen where hints and clues are laid out. The bakers are scored based on whether or not they guessed the dessert and how closely it comes out compared to the original. Obviously, how the desserts taste also matter.

Fox has renewed the series for a fourth season, but it hasn't received an official premiere date yet.

As for McHale, he seems to stay consistently busy between various jobs, having appeared in Yellowjackets and animated shows such as Grimsburg, American Dad!, and The Simpsons. He is also currently starring in the Fox sitcom Animal Control, which was recently renewed for a fourth season. And he's hosting the reality series House of Villains and has hosted multiple game shows. Next, McHale will appear in Scream 7.

While on Meyers, they discussed some of his different gigs and he revealed that he does enjoy agreeing "to everything," which is why we see him popping up so often.
