After months away from Chicago Med season 11, it’s finally time to return to Gaffney with the first new episode of the year. The latest season signed off back in November 2025 with a shocking midseason finale episode that ended with a major cliffhanger that left the life of one of our doctors on the line. We can’t wait to learn Lenox’s fate anymore!
In the Chicago Med season 11 midseason finale, Lenox was reunited with Devon Carter (guest star Jack Falahee), who appeared in an episode earlier this season. Lenox had extended an offer to help his wife Faye when she discovered Devon was being physically abusive. Faye turned down her offer, but Lenox has now learned the abuse didn’t stop.
Lenox defied her role as an emergency room doctor and headed to Faye’s house while Devon was still at the hospital. However, in the final moments of the midseason finale, Devon surprised Lenox and hit her over the head, leaving us to wonder whether she will survive her frightening encounter with the abusive man and manage to save Faye, too.
Without further ado, let’s dive right on into Chicago Med season 11 episode 8 and catch up with Lenox and all the doctors at Gaffney with a recap! Warning: Major spoilers ahead!

Lenox survived Devon’s attack, but someone else died
Rather than picking up where we left off in episode 7, the new episode begins with Charles speaking to a therapist. He’s looking a little worse for the wear still and seems to have been spooked by the power outage. During the power outage, Archer also appears to have made a choice about Jeremy’s care that has him in hot water with Goodwin.
As it turns out, Lenox survived her run-in with Devon and speaks with a detective about what happened. The detective wants to know why she didn’t call the police before going to the Carters’ house. She doubted that the cops would take the matter as seriously as she did, but apparently, her decision led to someone dying.
Archer and Kingston continue their conversation with Goodwin and the board, and Kingston takes credit for deciding to continue with Jeremy’s surgery without power. A flashback reveals that Archer actually suggested staying in the dark rather than moving to an OR with power upstairs and Kingston followed his lead. Jeremy lost a lot of blood, but its cause isn’t immediately known and he still hasn’t woken up from surgery.
Archer, Kingston, and Asher speak with Esme about the possibility of Jeremy having a stroke and his currently unknown status. Overcome with emotion, Asher pretends she’s being paged to take a moment alone. Asher follows her to the lounge and pushes back against her continuing to keep him at arm’s length. He wants his friend back. She admits that she’s having nightmares about dying in the delivery room while giving birth like her mother. She’s afraid to find out if the baby’s a girl like in her nightmares because that could mean they’re coming true.

Ripley puts his life on the line with Devon, too
Lenox continues to walk the detective through her encounter with Devon. He knocked her out with a gun, the alleged murder weapon, and she was unconscious for quite some time. When she woke up, she was back in the basement. Devon waved a gun at both Faye and Lenox as they pleaded for him to calm down. Faye agreed to run away with him to protect Lenox, but Lenox had to fix up Faye’s broken ankle first. She’s still in bad condition, though.
Someone else arrives at the house, and it’s unfortunately Ripley. Lenox is momentarily relieved to see him until Devon guides him down into the basement and ties him up. Devon drinks alcohol and intends to kill Lenox until Faye passes out from her recurring injury from the previous episode. He frees Lenox and Ripley to perform a life saving procedure on Faye.
Meanwhile, Charles continues his therapy session about his case with Linda and his fight for her to obtain a heart transplant. He wasn’t able to secure the heart for her, which weighs on him.
Back in the basement, Lenox and Ripley push Faye to get them free or she will almost certainly die if she leaves with Devon. As Devon holds Ripley at gunpoint, Lenox is able to free herself and stab Devon before he can pull the trigger. A struggle ensues, but Lenox manages to knock Devon out. The detective accuses Lenox of shooting and killing Devon. However, she left the basement to find a phone and call 911, but she hears a gunshot.
By the time she returned to the basement, Devon had died. As Lenox tells the detective, Faye used Devon’s gun to kill her husband before he could use a pipe to kill Ripley. She told the detective that Devon had freed himself, but he was actually still tied up. Who is she covering for? The detective knows that she’s lying to him, that he was untied after he was killed. She’s not falling for his bait and tells him to put her in front of a jury.

Charles considers retirement and what really happened
During his tense therapy session, Charles finally admits that he’s thinking about retiring. It’s not a new thought. He has been thinking about it all the time. He worries how much “gas” he has left after the day he had with Linda’s heart and the confrontation with Dr. Morris. In the elevator, Charles had his own cardiac event and his nose started bleeding. He hasn’t had a panic attack since medical school. He’s scared about what could be wrong with him.
Thankfully, Jeremy woke up and didn’t die. Kingston believes that he will still be alive by the time Esme has their baby girl. Moved by the moment, Archer later knocks on Asher’s door with the results of the baby’s sex. He wants Asher to face her fears rather than letting her anxiety about the baby fester. She opens the envelope and learns that they’re having a girl. Archer assures her that history rarely repeats itself. Asher asks him to stay and watch a movie with her.
Lenox and Ripley finally leave the police department and check in with each other. Ripley mentions that they “had to stick to the story.” So, what really happened? While Lenox left to call 911 outside, Faye asked Ripley not to leave her side. Devon comes to and instructs Faye to get the gun from under the couch and shoot Ripley. Instead, she shoots and kills Devon. Lenox cut Devon loose in order for Faye’s motivation to be self defense. But are those sparks between Lenox and Ripley?
