The countdown to NCIS season 23 is officially on, and we’re now less than two months away from the return of CBS’s longest-running primetime drama! Fans cannot wait for new episodes to return and have been waiting months for the fallout of Carla Marino murdering Parker’s dad in the season finale.
Well, it seems that fallout will come at a larger scale than we anticipated!
CBS has released the premiere synopsis and first look photos for its new and returning fall programs. In doing so, CBS revealed that the NCIS season 23 premiere will be a two-part event with the action kicking off with the season premiere on Oct. 14 and then carrying over into the second episode of the season the following week.
While this might seem inconsequential, the reveal confirms that we’re not going to see things wrapped up all nice and neatly within the opening hour of the season. Instead, it seems the NCIS team has crafted a story that will span two episodes leading to a two-part premiere event, one that is sure to be packed with action and suspense.
In Part 1 of the two-part premiere, Parker will be reeling from the murder of his father and, as you might expect, he’s about to stop at nothing to bring Carla to justice. Parker will be going to extreme lengths to find his father’s killer, and in the process, it seems he might take things a bit too far, taking actions that will not only jeopardize his own career but also the future of the entire team.
Of course, we imagine the team is going to be more than willing to suffer the consequences of their actions if it means helping Parker bring Carla to justice. As we’ve seen many times over the years, the NCIS team is a family and when one of their own needs help, they stop at nothing to come to their aid, even if it means putting their own livelihood on the line.
With the premiere being a two-parter, we imagine that the first episode of the new season will end with a major cliffhanger. Could that cliffhanger be that the team ends up in hot water after taking drastic actions to try to find Carla at any cost? That certainly seems like a strong possibility and would help set up the second part of the event.
We’ll find out soon enough when NCIS season 23 kicks off on Tuesday, Oct. 14 with the first part of the 2-part premiere event!
