CBS is bringing the drama this July, but not in the way you might expect. Instead of launching a brand-new daytime soap on television, the network is turning up the heat in podcast form. It's called Soapy, and it's hosted by daytime vets Rebecca Budig (The Bold and the Beautiful, All My Children) and Greg Rikaart (Days of Our Lives, The Young and the Restless).

Soapy is described as being a new audio and video podcast dedicated to soap operas. Fans can expect the podcast to explore the history and impact of soap operas, celebrate the community of passionate fans, and examine why soap operas continue to be popular and culturally relevant over time.

Although launched by CBS, the podcast will talk about soaps from various networks, not just CBS. So, it will feature a wide range of guests from competing shows. Get ready for exciting candid conversations and exclusive interviews with some of the biggest names in daytime. We're talking beloved veterans to current stars who are keeping the genre alive.

Here is the guest list which includes major names in daytime TV via Deadline:

  • Maurice Benard (General Hospital)
  • Tracey Bregman (The Young and the Restless)
  • Marc Cherry (creator of Desperate Housewives)
  • Scott Clifton (The Bold and the Beautiful)
  • Eva LaRue (General Hospital)
  • Christian LeBlanc (The Young and the Restless)
  • Cameron Mathison (General Hospital, All My Children)
  • Karla Mosley (Beyond the Gates)
  • Lawrence Saint-Victor (The Bold and the Beautiful)
  • Melody Thomas Scott (The Young and the Restless)
  • Heather Tom (The Bold and the Beautiful)
  • Tamara Tunie (Beyond the Gates)

The first episode premieres on July 8, and new episodes will be released weekly through Sept. 30. Eric Braeden (The Young and the Restless) is confirmed as the first guest, and his episode will be released on July 8. On July 15, Deidre Hall from Days of Our Lives will join the hosts for an in-depth conversation. Additionally, Beyond the Gates executive producer Sheila Ducksworth will appear on July 22, and Lauralee Bell (The Young and the Restless) will close out the month on July 29.

Soapy is produced by the Paramount Multiplatform Production Group, with Mike Benson as executive producer and Andrew Pemberton-Fowler as producer. If you want to listen to the Soapy podcast, you can do so on Audacy or on any other platform where podcasts are available like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, etc. In addition, the podcast will also have full video episodes that will be streamed weekly on the official CBS YouTube Channel, so fans can watch the episodes online as well as listen to them.
