Could a Big Brother legend be heading to Fiji to compete on Survivor? The jury is still out, but it seems they’ve just taken a major first step in making their hopes of playing the game of Survivor a reality.
Fans will recall, following her return in Big Brother 27 last summer, Big Brother legend Rachel Reilly began to once again throw her hat in the ring and campaign to complete the CBS reality TV trifecta by competing on Survivor. Her comments quickly took off as fans of Reilly echoed in with messages of support, including several Survivor legends who agreed it would be amazing to see Reilly trade in the Big Brother house for the beaches of Fiji.
As Reilly’s comments took off, they eventually made their way back to Survivor host Jeff Probst, who was quick to pump the brakes on things. While he recognized that Reilly is a legend in the game of Big Brother, Probst made it clear during an interview on the red carpet of the Emmys that if she was serious about competing on Survivor, she’d first need to submit an official audition.
"Well, first she’s got to apply. She’s got to want it bad enough to send in a little two-minute video and say, ‘Here's why I should be on.' There’s no secret passageway to getting on Survivor," Probst told ET.
After Probst made it clear there are no shortcuts to getting on Survivor, not even for CBS reality TV royalty, Reilly took his comments to heart and did just as he instructed: submit an official audition for the show!
“On the red carpet at the Emmys, Jeff Probst said that I needed to apply for Survivor. So I did. I’m crossing fingers for that,” Reilly revealed in an interview with Entertainment Now.
It seems that Reilly is more than committed to making her dream of becoming the first individual to appear on all three of CBS’s longest-running reality competition shows a reality. Reilly has played the game of Big Brother three times having appeared on season 12, season 13, and season 27; winning the show in season 13. She’s also competed on The Amazing Race three times over the years, appearing in seasons 20, 24, and 31.
The only CBS reality show Reilly has not yet competed on is Survivor, but it seems she has set her sights on competing on the survival series and is not going to stop until she gets her chance to compete.
Honestly, we have to wonder how CBS has managed to go 50 seasons of Survivor and not found a way to do a bigger crossover with the worlds of Big Brother and The Amazing Race. It would truly be amazing to see CBS do a mashup season that pits stars from the two series against returning players from Survivor to see how legends from the three shows would stack up against one another in the game of Survivor.
After CBS did a Big Brother edition of The Amazing Race last fall with season 38 featuring teams comprised of former Big Brother players and their loved ones, we’d love to see legends from Big Brother and The Amazing Race test their bodies and minds by playing the game of Survivor. Hopefully, Reilly’s push to compete on the show might spark some inspiration among the Survivor casting team!
