It’s the finale of season 10 Bachelor in Paradise

We are treated to final relationship tests, some interesting backstabbing, secret love letters, and the ultimate choice: love or money (more on that later).

One notable absence from this episode: Neil Lane was missing from the ring showing! Jesse Palmer was left to show the men the rings. They were indeed Neil Lane rings, so I guess Neil was just too busy to appear. I did miss him; something about his presence lends a hint of legitimacy to the proceedings, somehow convincing us these engagements could really succeed.

Overall, this was a pretty good finale! We got four solid couples out of it, one engagement, and a lot of entertainment. Not so bad!

Let’s get to the best and worst moments of the Bachelor in Paradise finale!

Worst moment: Sob stories

The contestants go around and pitch themselves, trying to say why each of them is the most deserving of the money.

In a show like this, should it really be about who needs the money the most? This new Bachelor in Paradise is supposed to be about strategy, relationship tests, and who can outsmart the others.

They all have the opportunity to make money on social media anyway, and it’s hard to believe any one of them really desperately needs this (student loan debt notwithstanding).

Also, is it really even the choice between love and money? It appears they can get both if need be. The winners are given envelopes full of cash at the end anyway!

I also wonder: can’t they just get back together later after choosing the money? I wonder how something like that could be enforced. The show would look terrible!

So, the choice between love and money really just didn’t work this season.

Best moment: Weight of the World

This relationship test was pretty fun to watch. The couples are put into harnesses and climb up on platforms to hold up some weights.

Kate and Dale are out first, despite Kat insisting how strong she is. The winners are Alex and Andrew! Alex did pretty great.

Naming this the best moment of the finale is a testament to the whole season. The relationship tests and challenges really were the saving grace of this season!

Bachelor in Paradise made a great move adding these in, instead of the monotony of purely focusing on love and conversations about love.

That's a wrap for season 10 of Bachelor in Paradise! Next up, The Golden Bachelor!
