We’re back to the sandy beaches of Costa Rica this week for another episode of Bachelor in Paradise

Episode 5 brought us many thrills. Broken bro codes, relationship switch-ups, bird dances, the list goes on!

Let’s get to the best and worst moments of Bachelor in Paradise episode 5!

JEREMY
BACHELOR IN PARADISE - ABC's "Bachelor in Paradise" stars Jeremy. | (Disney/Sami Drasin)

Best moment: Jeremy and Brian talk

The best moment of episode 5 comes when Jeremy and Brian have a “private” conversation in their room. Dressed as birds, I might add.

Jeremy clearly has something to confide in Brian, but acknowledges that he doesn’t want to say anything because he’s mic’d. He ends up mouthing what he wants to say, clearly not realizing that the mic is going to pick it up anyway!

Jeremy ends up mouthing something along the lines of not wanting to win with Bailey, because he doesn't really like her and regrets not giving his rose to Susie. This moment was not a great look for Jeremy, but I really enjoyed it! It stood out as the best moment of episode 5 simply due to the realness of it! We have been so starved for any moment of “reality” in this overproduced season of the new Bachelor in Paradise.

This whole season, it has seemed like everyone has been on their best behavior, always aware of how they will be perceived by the audience. This doesn’t make for very dramatic television!

At least this moment wasn’t perfectly produced and scripted. It made Jeremy look pretty bad, but at least it showed a messy, human side of Paradise.

Worst moment: BIP VIP Suite

Brian and Parisa spend some time in the BIP VIP Suite, and Parisa asks Brian his favorite color while they are in the pool. Sounds like a pretty innocent question, right?

But Brian is not having it! He basically refuses to answer the question, instead preferring to spend all their time making out. He feels like the question is inauthentic (presumably because they’ve already talked about it?)

Understandably, Parisa wants to sprinkle in some conversation, especially while the cameras are around. After Brian’s “flocking” comments, she doesn’t want their connection to be portrayed as purely physical.

Brian said it was like “elementary school,” but it just didn’t need to be such a big deal! He could’ve just gone along with it and said his favorite color. Or pick any color! It doesn’t have to be your favorite!
