There are some great broadcast comedies that can end up being overlooked. Animal Control is one of them, and yes, you are sleeping on it.
The Joel McHale comedy is something lightweight and entertaining, and it will return to Fox for its fourth season. We can’t wait, but in even better news, Animal Control is finally heading to Netflix. While it is great news, the timing is tight to binge it all before season 4 premieres, but it's a slow weekend, so you've got the space, right?
Animal Control will arrive on Netflix in December
In a last-minute licensing deal, Netflix has secured the rights to multiple seasons of Animal Control. At the time of writing this, What’s on Netflix couldn’t confirm if it would be two or three seasons of the comedy series so far, but there will be at least two.
This is excellent news for those who need to catch up. After all, the first two seasons aren’t available to stream anywhere. They left Hulu last year, and now, only the third season is available to stream on the Disney-owned platform. Why would anyone jump in with season 3 before watching the first two seasons?
Netflix will make it possible to fully catch up. Even if it only gets two seasons, we can watch them there and then move over to Hulu for season 3.
And all of this is happening well before Animal Control season 4 premieres on Fox. At least the first two seasons will join Netflix on Friday, Dec. 26. Yes, the day after Christmas!
Animal Control season 4 is coming sooner than expected
Fox originally planned for Animal Control season 4 to premiere at the beginning of January. Well, schedules have changed, and for us, it’s for the better. It’s also a potentially great thing for the series, and it shows that Fox wants this show to succeed.
Animal Control season 4 will premiere on Sunday, Dec. 28. It’s slated to air at 8/7c after the NFL double-header that day. Post-NFL games tend to have a lot of success, and with this show being a 30-minute comedy, it doesn’t push too much into Sunday Night Football to run the risk of failing!
It looks like the series will then move back to Thursday nights, but that wasn’t made too clear in the TV Insider article. The original premiere date was Thursday, Jan. 15, and we could probably expect that to be the date for the second episode.
Animal Control will arrive on Netflix on Friday, Dec. 26 with season 4 premiering on Fox on Sunday, Dec. 28 at 8/7c.
