The most magical night of the American Idol season has finally arrived! After tackling songs from Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees, the competition shifts to celebrating Disney Magic as Disney Night arrives. The night was extra magical with American Idol alum Jennifer Hudson returning to mentor the Top 9 and serve as a guest judge for the night.
For the Disney Night, fans got the chance to hear the remaining artists take on some of the most iconic songs from the Disney catalog after getting the chance to visit the Disneyland Resort. While we typically have to wait until the night’s performances to find out what songs the contestants are tackling, Disney revealed the performance list ahead of the live episode with an exclusive look at the night’s songs, which include hits from Coco, Frozen, Aladdin, Pocahontas, The Lion King, and more beloved Disney classics:
- Braden Rumfelt - “Remember Me” from Coco
- Brooks - “The Climb” from Hannah Montana: The Movie
- Chris Tungseth - “Let It Go” from Frozen
- Daniel Stallworth - "A Whole New World" from Aladdin
- Hannah Harper - "Almost There" from The Princess and the Frog

Daniel Stallworth performs “A Whole New World” from Aladdin
Daniel opened the night performing "A Whole New World" from Aladdin, a performance that wowed the judges and took them to church. Lionel praised him for taking Jennifer's advice to heart, giving them a natural and powerful performance that showed off his god-given gift. Carrie was thrilled when she saw his song selection for the night, knowing he would crush it, which he absolutely did.
Jennifer noted that the church doors are open, and he opened them with his performance. She loved how he took every note she provided him with and delivered an incredible performance. Meanwhile, Luke praised Daniel for his charisma and the way he navigates each performance, with everything he does being so well done and put together.
Braden Rumfelt performs “Remember Me” from Coco
Before taking to the stage, Braden has us all a little worried as he struggled to remember the lyrics to the song during rehearsals with Jennifer. Thankfully as he took to the stage, he had the lyrics down and delivered an amazing performance. Carrie praised him for his ability to get into character when he performs, which she called really refreshing.
Jennifer was so proud of how his performance came together, calling him a star in many ways. She too loved how he brought the audience into his performance and noted she hopes to see him back next week. Luke praised him for taking a tricky and challenging song and delivering an amazing performance, which Lionel echoed, praising him for a job well done.
Lucas Leon performs “Life is a Highway” from Cars
Ahead of his performance, Jennifer encouraged him to look at the crowd more to engage them and make a connection. It was a note that he took and ran with, with Jennifer praising him for turning this moment into his concert and noting that he’s well on his way while encouraging him to trust his instincts.
Luke commended Lucas on how comfortable and watchable he is at such a young age, encouraging him to keep his confidence. Lionel encouraged him to continue to make sure he’s giving the audience all he has, while Carrie praised him for his joyful performance and loved seeing him having so much fun and not being in his head.
Hannah Harper performs “Almost There” from The Princess and the Frog
Heading into her performance, Hannah worked with Jennifer on getting more comfortable moving around the stage. While we did get to see her moving around a bit more this week, it’s clear she still has a bit of a way to go, which the judges recognized as well.
Luke loved the performance and how it made him smile. He praised her for growing into the character and called it his favorite performance from Hannah this season. Lionel encouraged her to wear her performance day shoes in rehearsal to get more comfortable before hitting the stage, noting that it seemed like there were points she felt slightly uncomfortable while moving around.
Carrie recalled how she received similar notes during her Idol days and encouraged Hannah to continue to work on getting more comfortable, as did Jennifer, who noted she’s on her way and just needs to keep going.
Chris Tungseth performs “Let It Go” from Frozen
In helping to prepare Chris for his performance, Jennifer encouraged him to work the stage a bit more and step outside his comfort zone. The note was put to good use with Lionel praising him for giving them stage presence with the performance, which he called fantastic.
Carrie admitted she was so proud of his performance and how he emoted more than in any other performance, encouraging him to bring more of that should he continue in the competition. Jennifer commended him on his amazing voice, as Luke confessed that he’d never have predicted Chris would one day take on a song from Frozen, which he truly enjoyed.
Keyla Richardson performs “Circle of Life” from The Lion King
Keyla’s performance received the ultimate compliment from Jennifer, with Jennifer throwing her shoe after the performance — a move Jennifer pulls out as the ultimate compliment to a singer who has deeply moved her with their performance.
Jennifer noted that the song is a testimony, and Keyla just performed it like her testimony. She got emotional, calling it a full circle moment for her, and noted she hopes the song has just as big an impact on her as it did for Jennifer. Luke called it a great performance, while Lionel remarked that there was only one way to summarize what they saw: let the congregation say amen.
Brooks Rosser performs “The Climb” from Hannah Montana: The Movie
Working with Brooks, Jennifer encouraged him to allow his voice to be heard through his performance in celebrating the uniqueness of his voice. Following his performance, Jennifer noted how special a sound he has, one that does not come around every day. She encouraged him to remember that he’s in the right place and deserves to be here.
Luke admitted that he felt that the song ran away from Brooks in places at times but encouraged him to keep digging. Lionel pointed out how everyone else might be working on how to move on the stage, but his magic is in his voice, and he just needs to keep honing that. Carrie noted that she was so proud of how comfortable Brooks has become in his performances each week.
Jordan McCullough performs “Colors of the Wind” from Pocahontas
Well, there isn’t much to recap of Jordan’s feedback as he truly left the judges speechless with his performance of the Pocahontas classic. It wowed Jennifer so much she threw both her shoes on the stage noting there wasn’t anything else to say. Carrie called it a perfect performance.
Kyndal Inskeep performs “Butterfly Fly Away” from Hannah Montana: The Movie
Closing out the night’s performances, Kyndal more than redeemed her herself after losing her voice and nearly heading home last week. Lionel praised her for stepping into her light with a fabulous performance.
Carrie pointed out how feeling how she felt last week was necessary, as without a moment like that, Kyndal would have never been able to have that beautiful moment of redemption that she had through her performance. Jennifer called it an absolutely beautiful performance as she threw her shoe onto the stage, while Luke commended Kyndal for her comeback after last week’s performance.
