American Idol is for the dreamers. It's for those who refuse to give up on their passion and who believe that with talent and determination, they can transform their dreams into reality. For this 2025 finalist, that belief was tested early on when friends warned them not to audition. But in the end, she would go on to place third in the show's twenty-third season. That talented musician is Breanna Nix.

American Idol season 23 aired on ABC from March to May 2025. Throughout the season, viewers followed the journeys of hopeful contestants, cheered for their favorites, and witnessed powerful performances that left lasting impressions. One particular contestant, Breanna Nix, proved time and time again that she was a force to be reckoned with. She delivered unforgettable, show-stopping performances week after week, which is why it's no surprise that she made it so far in the competition.

As mentioned above, Nix finished in third place. John Foster was the runner-up, with Jamal Roberts ultimately taking home the title as the winner of American Idol season 23. But just imagine if Nix had never decided to audition because this was an actual possibility at one point in her life.

On June 13, 2025, Nix decided to take some time out of her day to answer questions from fans on her now-deleted Instagram stories. According to EntertainmentNow, one fan asked her what important lesson or value she wants to pass down to her son at this point in her life.

In her response, she explained that during this current period of her life, she has had to rely entirely on faith. She mentioned that many people she respected advised her not to participate in American Idol, warning that it could "ruin so many things" for her, and that they believed that such a decision wouldn’t be guided by God. But despite all of the doubts and warnings, Nix explained that she felt a clear calling from God to pursue this opportunity. So, she trusted that guidance and followed through.

"But I knew that God spoke to me, and I knew that God told me to go on American Idol. And I’m so thankful and so happy that I obeyed his voice and I went.”

She continued on to say that God had supported her throughout the entire American Idol journey, from before the show, during it, and even afterward. But when it comes to what she wants to pass on to her son, she told her fans that she wants him to listen to and obey God’s guidance. She wants him to trust God fully, even when the future is uncertain or scary.

Faith means everything to some people, and for Nix, it has been the guiding force that helped her push through doubts and fears. Would the world have known her without American Idol? With as much talent as she has, we'd argue yes. However, the show gave her the perfect platform to shine and reach a much wider audience than she might have otherwise. We can't wait to hear what new music she puts out next!
