In a TV landscape flooded with reboots and revivals, it’s clear audiences are hungry for more than just new content. They crave the familiar stories and beloved characters that once won over their hearts. ABC has been home to some truly remarkable shows that not only entertained but left a lasting impression on viewers.

Yet, while some networks have revived their fan favorites, ABC still has a handful of gems waiting in the wings. These are the series that built loyal followings, delivered unforgettable moments, and still spark nostalgia years after going off the air. With the revival trend showing no signs of slowing down, now is the perfect time to revisit these standout shows and imagine the exciting possibilities of a second act. We just need ABC to take the leap and give them the green light for a comeback.

Below, we shared a list of four great ABC shows that deserve revivals. Bringing these series back would not only satisfy longtime fans but also introduce new viewers to what made these shows so special in the first place.

Ugly Betty (2006-2010)

Ugly Betty was one of ABC’s most charming and culturally significant shows. It was also quite funny and often made even the most dramatic moments feel light and endearing without losing their emotional weight. But what really made this comedy-drama so great was how relatable it was. Viewers saw themselves in Betty Suarez, a young woman striving to carve out her path in a world that frequently judged her by her looks. Throughout the show's four-season run, we watched as Betty tried her best to navigate insecurities, workplace challenges, and the pressure to fit in, all while holding onto her values.

It's been over 15 years since the series finale aired on ABC, so I'd say the time is more than ripe for a revival. A return to Betty’s world could explore how she’s grown since taking on a new job in London. That's how the series finale wrapped up. I doubt Betty would stay in London forever. Maybe she will eventually start a relationship with Daniel and return to New York. I mean, the series finale seemed to hint at a potential romance between the two. It would also be nice to see where all the other characters are and what they've been up to, like Hilda, Wilhelmina, Amanda, and Marc.

Designated Survivor (2016-2019)

Technically, Designated Survivor wasn't an ABC show throughout its complete three-season run. The political thriller originally aired its first two seasons on ABC before being picked up by Netflix for a third season. Unfortunately, the show didn't last long at Netflix either, which is believed to have been because of some behind-the-scenes matters, such as complex contract issues. Designated Survivor would ultimately end with its third and final installment on the streaming platform in 2019.

Maybe it was a case of bad timing because now, with political thrillers being all the rage thanks to shows like Paradise, The Diplomat and The Night Agent, a Designated Survivor revival could find a new, eager audience while also catering to longtime fans who have been holding hope that one day the story will pick back up. I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to know what happened after Kirkman was re-elected to a full term as the President of the United States in the series finale.

Desperate Housewives (2004-2012)

What a time it was when Desperate Housewives was airing on ABC. There simply wasn't a show quite like it, and now as I reflect on its impact, it's clear that it paved the way for a new era of female-led dramas. It's hard these days to find a show that truly grabs your attention. I'm talking about a show where you never want to miss an episode because it's that good. That's how Desperate Housewives made its audience feel for eight seasons, and that’s precisely why it still holds a special place in TV history.

It's been a significant amount of time since we last visited Wisteria Lane, about 13 years, to be exact. But the mystery, drama, and deliciously twisted humor of Desperate Housewives still linger in the minds of fans. We might've seen the core four, Susan, Lynette, Gaby, and Bree, leave the infamous cul-de-sac in the series finale to embark on new chapters of their lives, but the stories of Wisteria Lane are far from over.

A revival could easily dive into how these beloved characters have grown and changed, while introducing fresh faces with their own secrets and scandals. I'd definitely be tuned in! But for now, we'll just have to look forward to the upcoming Desperate Housewives offshoot, Wisteria Lane.

Modern Family (2009-2020)

Honestly, what other comedy sitcom was competing with Modern Family at its peak? I'll wait. This hilariously funny comedy aired for 11 seasons on ABC, concluding in 2020. Throughout its entire run, the show managed to keep its audience entertained episode by episode with its clever writing, memorable characters, and heartfelt moments that portrayed the everyday lives of a unique and diverse family navigating life’s challenges and joys together.

One might argue that it is too soon for a Modern Family revival because it's only been five years since its conclusion, but let’s be honest. Fans would welcome the Dunphy-Pritchett clan back with open arms. The revival wouldn't even have to pick up exactly where things left off. It could easily fast-forward a few years and dive into where life has taken everyone.
