Throughout the years, ABC has been the home to many iconic comedy series, like Full House, Home Improvement, Family Matters, and plenty more that have become timeless classics and centerpieces to millions of lives. Right now, the network has markedly fewer comedies on the air than usual, with Emmy-winning hit Abbott Elementary and Tim Allen's Shifting Gears holding it down.

But come 2026, ABC will be welcoming a "new" comedy series to its lineup, and it's one that will be earning a lot of attention from viewers. If you're wondering why new has been written in quotes it's because while this comedy series is technically new, it's a reboot of a fan-favorite show from the 2000s. Yes, the Scrubs reboot finally has a premiere date. Mark your calendars!

ABC revealed the midseason 2026 premiere date schedule, which revealed Scrubs returns on Wednesday, February 25 at 8/7c with a two-episode premiere. The reboot will likely continue with new episodes on Wednesdays alongside Abbott Elementary moving forward, taking the place of Shifting Gears season 2, which will likely have wrapped its 13-episode order by late February.

Scrubs reboot set for two-episode premiere in February on ABC

The return of Scrubs will be one of the biggest events in the broadcast television space at the start of 2026. Even though it seems like the Scrubs reboot has been in the works for a long time, especially since creator Bill Lawrence revealed plans to return to Sacred Heart back in 2022, ABC put the reboot in development at the end of 2024 and was ordered to series by summer 2025. It's been quick!

If you're wondering how many episodes there will be in the the upcoming new season, which will technically be Scrubs season 10 but the first season of the reboot series, Donald Faison reportedly revealed there will be nine episodes. That means that with the two-episode premiere, Scrubs will run for eight total weeks, should the season air without interruptions.

But it's time to savor the reboot rather than focusing on how much time (or how little) we'll be spending with our favorite characters this time around. After all, our favorite characters will be back. Zach Braff, Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke, Judy Reyes, and John C. McGinley have all been confirmed to return in some capacity. Ken Jenkins and Neil Flynn haven't been revealed just yet.

In addition to the usual suspects from the original classic, a crew of newbies have also boarded the reboot. Vanessa Bayer and Joel Kim Booster will appear in recurring guest roles, as will Ava Bunn, Jacob Dudman, David Gridley, Layla Mohammadi, and Amanda Morrow as the new interns. Robert Maschio and Phill Lewis also reprise their roles from the original Scrubs seasons.

Ahead of the Scrubs season 10 premiere in February, cameras started following the first table read in late September. The cast and crew begin filming episode 3 and the remainder of the season later this week, though there has been a behind the scenes shuffle with co-showunner Tim Hobert exiting the series and leaving Aseema Batra the sole showrunner.

But fear not! There's no doubt that the new season will provide laughs and all the nostalgia we have been craving. And it's the perfect time to sneak in one last binge-watch of the first nine seasons on Hulu. The reboot picks up years after the original series' end, but it's always great to remember where we've been before reuniting with the crew. The countdown is officially on!

Scrubs premieres Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 8/9c on ABC, streaming next day on Hulu.
