Who doesn’t love a good crossover? There’s something thrilling about seeing your favorite characters from different shows collide. It's like a dream come true! And now, Jennifer Love Hewitt from 911 is making fans’ dreams even bigger by expressing her excitement about a potential crossover with another beloved ABC series.
In a recent interview with AwardsBuzz, Hewitt shared her genuine enthusiasm for bringing her character Maddie into the world of High Potential, imagining how fun and natural it would be for the two ABC shows to come together. Maddie is a dedicated 911 dispatcher known for her quick decision-making and empathy in 911, while High Potential follows the neurodivergent genius Morgan (Kaitlin Olson) as she works with the LAPD to solve the city's toughest crimes.
When talking to AwardsBuzz, Hewitt shared how obsessed she is with the crime drama series. She tells the news outlet that since both 911 and High Potential are set in Los Angeles, and the character Morgan often talks about “dispatch," she thinks it would be awesome if Morgan visited Maddie’s dispatch center in 911 or Maddie visited Morgan’s world in High Potential. She even imagines the crossover happening across episodes that kicks off in High Potential and carries over into 911.
"I am obsessed with the show High Potential.... They’re in L.A., and she’s always referencing Dispatch. And I’m like, ‘She has got to come to the Dispatch Center, or I have to go to hers.' Or I feel like we could do both, like one of their episodes could end with her coming to my Dispatch Center, and then I could enter her next episode. But I just need to work with that show. I just wanna be on that show. I think it could be so fun."
Hewitt also shared with AwardsBuzz that she thinks it would be genuinely enjoyable to see her character interact with the Morgan character because she finds Morgan fun and believes that she and Maddie would be exciting to watch together. She then goes on to talk about how both series are part of the same entertainment family. 911 and High Potential both air on the same network and fall under the Disney umbrella. Because of that, Hewitt believes a crossover between the two shows would be easier to pull off logistically.
Honestly, hearing Hewitt talk about this crossover with such excitement makes it easy to share in her enthusiasm. It's not like 911 hasn't had crossovers in the past. The hit procedural drama previously teamed up with its spinoff, 911: Lone Star, as well as the short-lived medical drama Doctor Odyssey.
This would be High Potential's first crossover if it were to happen, and what better show to join forces with than 911? We’re keeping our fingers crossed that the powers that be at ABC and Disney see the potential magic in this matchup and make it happen. But we can only hope for now!
911 season 9 is slated to premiere on ABC on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. CT. High Potential returns with its second season on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025, at 10:00 p.m. ET/9:00 p.m. CT.
