There is one wild series that we look forward to watching every Thursday night. It’s all about 911 season 9, but there’s some disappointing news about tonight, Thursday, Nov. 20.

There isn’t going to be a new episode of the first responder drama. The entire TGIT lineup on ABC is taking the night off, and that’s not the worst of it. The shows are all off the air until 2026.

911 season 9 is already on its winter break

911 season 9, episode 6 was the fall finale. This aired so much earlier than we’re used to, and if we’re honest, the episode didn’t quite feel like a fall finale. The ending was the biggest part that felt like a big enough cliffhanger to leave us on throughout the winter break, with Hen getting checked out after struggling with tremors and fainting spells.

In some good news, you can get your fill of the series, and you can go back to any season that you want. 911 is available to stream in full on Hulu, so you can revisit the Bobby years, because we all know the show hasn’t felt right without him. However, I do appreciate the topics of grief and loss this season as we watch how everyone is still dealing with Bobby’s death.

911 will be back in 2026

We’re used to the winter break, but usually, we’re used to having to wait until the spring for new episodes. With such an early fall finale, will we really need to wait four months for the series to return?

This is where we have some great news. 911 season 9 will return in January. In fact, it will be back on Thursday, Jan. 8, airing at 8 p.m. ET/PT as usual. The entire TGIT lineup is back on this night!

Yes, this is much earlier than we’re used to, and it looks like there’s one major reason for that: the Winter Olympics. ABC will need to take some time off in February because going up against a major event like the Winter Olympics isn’t a good idea — although it’s going to have to do that with Will Trent and The Rookie.

With this break between Friday, Feb. 6 and Sunday, Feb. 22, there will be time for 911 to get the rest of the season filmed and in order to return in March. This then allows it to run straight through until May without too many one-off breaks in the schedule.

911 season 9 will return on Thursday, Jan. 8 at 8/7c on ABC.
