Another week is here, and now we’re really starting to look at what the networks have on offer throughout the summer. It continues to be mostly about NBC and FOX when it comes to shows to check out, but we don’t want to keep suggesting the same shows over and over again.
Yes, you still want to watch The Snake, Destination X, and Transplant. They are all wonderful programs, whether you want drama or reality (which always brings drama, anyway). However, there are some great alternatives if you’re looking for something else.
What to watch: Yes, Chef
While NBC starts Monday nights with America’s Got Talent, there is another reality show to watch afterward. For those who love cooking programs, Yes, Chef is the one you’ve likely been tuning into, and this week, we’re down to the final four.
Their previous behavior is going to be assessed in the new episode. That could mean something good for them, but as we all know, actions have consequences, and sometimes, those consequences are bad. They will all want to be on their best behavior to get into the finale.
Yes, Chef airs on Monday at 10/9c on NBC.
What to skip: Scamanda
We’ll tuck into one of the shows to skip this week, and it’s all about Scamanda on ABC. This isn’t because it’s not worth watching, but because you can watch it any time you want on Hulu. In fact, it was a Hulu original, which got a linear run on ABC as the networks start taking advantage of multi-casting opportunities.
Scamanda is great for those who need a bit of true crime, as it goes into a young mother who is diagnosed with cancer. Of course, she turns to her local community and church for support, but just how honest is she being?
What to watch: America’s Got Talent
The fifth round of auditions takes place on America’s Got Talent this week, and someone from Simon’s past is going to show up. This person wants to redeem themselves after the first incident, and with so many possibilities, it’s going to be exciting to see who it is and how Simon reacts.
Meanwhile, Tom Sandoval from Vanderpump Rules will appear on the show. He’s ready to show a different side to himself, but will he have the talent to win everyone over?
America’s Got Talent airs on Tuesday at 8/7c on NBC.
What to watch: Sullivan’s Crossing
Do you want a bit of romance and scripted drama in your life? The CW is the place to turn this week, with a new episode of Sullivan’s Crossing. Cal will head out in search of Lola and Jacob, but he is not alone. This is where a community comes together.
It turns out that Lola and Jacob didn’t return home, and Cal will do what he can to find them. Maggie, Sully, and many of the others will join him in the hunt, but will this turn into a happy reunion?
Watch Sullivan’s Crossing on Wednesday at 8/7c on The CW.
What to watch: CMA Fest
How about some country music? Cody Johnson and Ashley McBryde will host CMA Fest, which is a collaboration of country music artists, whether as individuals or groups. They’ll all be in Nashville, Tennessee, and it’s time to hear songs from people you love and those you don’t know just yet.
I wouldn’t be surprised if there was some sort of 911: Nashville trailer aired during the ad breaks. Keep an eye out for this during your night of music. The best thing is that you can put it on in the background and just enjoy the performances without having to think or get involved in drama.
CMA Fest airs on Thursday at 8/7c on ABC.

What to skip: Fire Country
Look, I love Fire Country, but if you’re going out Friday night, you don’t need to worry about missing the episode. CBS is airing a bunch of reruns right now, and that includes this first responder series. We’re heading back to the episode that involved a series of underground fires that the team had to help put out.
You can watch all three seasons of Fire Country on Paramount+. I highly recommend watching there since you get to avoid the ad breaks, and then you’ll get caught up for Fire Country season 4 in style.
