We know that everything has to end eventually. That is unless you’re Law & Order, NCIS, and Grey’s Anatomy, apparently. They get to keep on going, and some of our favorite shows end up wrapping up sooner than we’d like.
We’ve looked at cancellations we’re still salty about. They’re the unjust cancellations where the shows deserved better. However, there were some cancellations that we could see coming and are sad or bittersweet. That’s what we’re looking at with this post.
You see, there are times when we could want more, but it’s easy to understand why a cancellation happened. In fact, the writing was always on the wall, and it’s just disappointing that the quality didn’t hold up or that the audience didn’t stick around. Here are four cancellations from 2025 we’re still sad about.

The Irrational
After two seasons, NBC canceled The Irrational. Now, I know, there are some people salty about this one, but I’m just sad about it. While it was a great show and I loved the psychological elements behind it, the series did hit a sophomore slump.
The cases weren’t as interesting as the first season, and some of the characters weren’t quite as developed as they could have been. We just have to look at how I still don’t feel we knew anything about Rizwan, despite him being a regular character for all two seasons.
With the decline in quality and the decline in ratings, it wasn’t that surprising to see The Irrational on the cancellation list. Yes, it’s definitely sad as this show could have been so much more, but it was an understandable business decision. I just wish the second season didn’t end with a cliffhanger that we now have unresolved.

FBI: Most Wanted
CBS opted to cancel both of its FBI spinoffs to make way for CIA. Now with the issues of CIA, it’s not surprising that some people are still salty about the cancellations of both of the spinoffs. While I’m salty about FBI: International ending, I’m sad about FBI: Most Wanted.
Yes, I would have loved to see more to the story, but I will give the writers credit. They were able to craft an ending that allows the Fugitive Task Force to show up or be mentioned in other FBI shows. After all, Nina Chase is with Scola, which opens up cameos from her if Shantel VanSanten is available to offer updates.
We got an ending for the series, and sometimes, that’s all we can ask for. The ending also made sense for each of the characters, and we know the team is still out there taking down the most dangerous perpetrators.

Deal or No Deal Island
Sometimes, we just need some reality TV. The best reality TV is one that involves strategy, so we get a chance to play along with the players and think about what we would do. Deal or No Deal Island offered us that chance, as we could watch the individuals take part in challenges before heading to Temple to play Deal or No Deal.
This is one of the most recent cancellations of 2025 for broadcast networks, and it is disappointing. At the same time, it’s not all that surprising. The linear ratings took a dip for this second season, and it meant the show couldn’t be justified. Linked with the fact that the most amount of money ever had been one on a reality show and it didn’t have the linear ratings made it clear that Deal or No Deal Island had to be canceled.
It is bittersweet, as I would like to see more of these types of reality shows take place. At least we have The Traitors on Peacock, though!

Resident Alien
I’m slipping in a USA Network/Syfy show onto the list, because it needs to be mentioned. It’s on basic cable, so I think it counts for broadcast! Resident Alien came to an end after four seasons, and while initially, there wasn’t the plan to end with season 4, everyone behind the scenes thought about it.
Chris Sheridan had a feeling that season 4 would be the last. So, you know what he did? He wrote it as the last. If it got renewed, there would have been a way to continue it, but he had the foresight and acceptance that it was time to wrap up Harry’s story.
And this is why it makes the cancellation bittersweet. We got to say goodbye, even if we would have loved more of this high-quality storytelling. The world isn’t the same without Harry, Asta, D’Arcy, and the other members of Patience.
