The new year has officially arrived and with 2026 comes the return of our favorite broadcast shows on ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox. After taking extended winter breaks that kept most shows off the air for the entirety of December (and parts of November for many shows), most networks will finally bring back their hit primetime series across the early weeks of January. In fact, the first week of January alone will bring back a whopping 25 series between winter premieres and season premieres!
Among the first shows to return in the new year are NBC’s One Chicago and Law & Order dramas, ABC’s 911 series, hit comedies like Abbott Elementary and St. Denis Medical, as well as new seasons of shows such as The Rookie, Will Trent, and The Masked Singer.
TV fans have a lot to look forward to in January, but they’ve also got a lot to look forward to in February (and March as well!) with over 20 series coming back across the two months.
CBS’s entire lineup will be sitting out the month of January after CBS chose to keep its series around through late December. This move was designed to keep the shows off the air in the early months of the year in planning ahead for a break during the Winter Olympics in February. Once the Olympics wrap, CBS will begin bringing back its hit series including the NCIS series, comedies Ghosts and The Neighborhood, and new series including the latest FBI offshoot, CIA.
