One of the best procedurals is about to arrive on Netflix… at least in some territories across the world. As January draws to a close, Netflix is set to add all 12 seasons of Bones to its library in a major licensing acquisition for the platform. The bad news is that Netflix will only be adding the series to a handful of regions and the United States will sadly not be one of them.
As reported by What’s on Netflix, Netflix will be adding all 12 seasons of the David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel-led Fox drama on January 31, 2026, in a select number of markets. So which lucky Netflix subscribers will be able to watch Bones beginning at the end of the month?
Bones will hit Netflix in Australia, Belgium, France, Israel, The Netherlands, Poland, South Korea and a number of select other territories in Asia.
So why isn’t Netflix releasing Bones more widely including in some of the biggest markets in which users watch Netflix? That would be the result of complicated licensing deals and Netflix’s inability to secure the streaming rights to the series in markets such as the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
While Netflix was able to secure the license to stream Bones in many international regions, the series is currently locked into deals with Disney+ and Prime Video in Canada and the United Kingdom. Meanwhile, it’s Disney+ and Hulu that hold the streaming rights to Bones in the United States, something that is not likely to change anytime soon given the series hailed from 20th Century Television which is now under the Disney umbrella.
It’s a shame that Netflix is unable to add Bones in the U.S. as it’s the type of show that would undoubtedly become an instant hit among Netflix users. The series saw Boreanaz playing F.B.I. Special Agent Seeley Booth, who formed an unexpected partnership that would eventually flourish into a romantic relationship, with Jeffersonian Institute anthropologist Dr. Temperance Brennan (Deschanel), Together, the duo worked to investigate cases where all that was left behind of the victims were their bones, thus where the show got its name.
Bones is a perfect binge for those looking for a long-term commitment as the show ran for 12 seasons and an impressive 245 episodes during its run on Fox. The show is a perfect blend of case of the week mysteries and humor, with a unique spin on the genre and a group of amazing characters.
International fans won’t want to miss their chance to watch the show when it drops on Netflix on January 31, and stateside fans should certainly give the series a chance via Disney+ or Hulu!
