OpenAI has recently introduced a beta feature in ChatGPT called “Tasks,” which is really interesting and can help boost your productivity. Let’s take a look at what it is, how you can access it, and what you can do with it.
What is Tasks?
Tasks is a new feature in ChatGPT that can enhance your productivity by allowing you to schedule future actions and reminders. Users can set one-time or recurring reminders for various activities, such as meetings or personal commitments. ChatGPT can also provide scheduled updates, like daily weather reports or weekly news briefings, at user-specified times and deliver them to your email.
It also supports dynamic conversations so you can jump right in to get more information or refine your strategy over time.
Managing and customized
Users can create, adjust, and delete tasks through a dedicated interface within ChatGPT. It will notify you that a task has run with a push notification and/or email message, and the tasks will run even when you are not online.
The system currently allows you to set up to 10 tasks per user, and you can pause and resume them as you need to.

Comparisons and limitations
While ChatGPT Tasks offers functionalities similar to digital assistants like Siri or Alexa, it also allows for AI interactions. However, since it’s still in Beta, there are limitations, like the absence of voice chat and the inability to upload files.
Some users also prefer their existing schedulers, but that may change as ChatGPT Tasks comes out of Beta.
Plans for the future
OpenAI plans to expand the availability of Tasks, including support for mobile applications and potential access for free-tier users. This feature is currently only available to ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Pro subscribers, and it’s not yet available in the Windows app.
The company is actively seeking user feedback during this beta phase to refine and enhance the feature’s functionality, so you will likely see more requests for your input after using the feature, like when it asks for a thumbs up or down.
How do I create a task in ChatGPT?
You can create tasks via a dedicated interface in ChatGPT. You can find it where you can select the different versions of ChatGPT to use. Then, users simply input the details, such as task name, schedule, and recurrence options, to set it up in a prompt similar to the one you use in any conversation.
Once set, ChatGPT will then respond that the task is ready. You can then edit it for even more functionality, for instance, to make it recurring.
