Gamers expect to be able to purchase the PlayStation 5 Pro in the second half of 2024, with huge updates to the processing power, storage space, and more. If you’ve been waiting a while, keep reading while we take a closer look at what we can expect when it finally releases.

Release Date

Unfortunately, Sony has not yet officially published an official release date for the  PS5 Pro. Still, many expect it to come out in the second half of 2024, potentially as early as November, which aligns with the holiday buying season. This is also when many new games come out that can use the system’s more powerful processor.

Specifications

Here are some of the rumors circulating about what we can expect from the PS5 Pro.

Performance

A 45% increase in raw rendering power compared to the standard PS5.

Two to four times improvement in ray tracing capabilities, enabling more realistic lighting and reflections.

Look for a GPU with as many as 33.5 teraflops of power, which is a substantial leap from the base model.

Custom Architecture

The PS5 Pro will include custom architecture for machine learning, potentially enhancing AI-driven features and overall performance.

Look for Sony’s new PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, designed to achieve higher resolutions and better frame rates.

Resolution and Frame Rate

The PS5 Pro should support consistent 4K gaming at 120 FPS and introduce a new performance mode for 8K resolution, which players have been waiting for since the release of the PS5.

Hardware Upgrades

The console will likely feature an AMD Zen 4-based CPU with higher clock speeds.

It will continue with 16GB of GDDR6 memory but may include enhancements to its built-in NVMe SSD for faster load times.

Design

Unfortunately, there is not much information about how the PS5 Pro will look, but many are speculating that it will be larger to accommodate the enhanced hardware and cooling solutions. It will also likely keep the modular side plate design for easy customization and maintenance.

Price

Unfortunately, Sony hasn’t released any details concerning the price of the PlayStation 5 Pro, but many expect it to follow the pricing strategy seen with the PS4 Pro, which launched at a premium compared to the original.

The PS5 Pro promises to deliver a substantial upgrade over the current PS5, focusing on improved performance, higher resolutions, and advanced gaming features. Gamers looking for the latest in console technology should keep an eye out for official announcements anytime now.
