With the expected announcement of the PlayStation 5 Pro (PS5 Pro) to be happening any day now, anticipation is at an all-time high. There is lots of speculation about everything, from what it will look like to how powerful it will be. There are even drawings of it on social media from someone who claims to have seen although Sony has not officially confirmed it even exists. Now, even Sony seems to be playing along with some possible Easter eggs hidden in some recent posts.

Subtle Hints and Leaks

Some eagle-eyed fans noticed what looked like an image of the PS5 Pro mixed in with many others, including the PlayStation DualShock controller, PlayStation Move controllers, the PlayStation VR headset, PlayStation memory cards, and the PS1 and PS2. The PS5 image has three stripes on it that the original does not have and appears very similar to a drawing circulating on social media produced by Billbil-kun.

PS5 Pro Specifications: What to Expect

While official specs are yet to be confirmed, leaks point toward a significant performance boost. The PS5 Pro will likely feature an upgraded AMD RDNA 4 GPU, promising better ray-tracing and AI-enhanced graphics. Additionally, the system may incorporate faster frame generation and improved cooling to handle the increased power demands.

State of Play: September 9th Event

Sony often holds their State of Play event on September 10th, and many insiders expected them to announce the Pro there. However, this year, they will have it on Monday the 9th, likely to avoid media distractions from the U.S. presidential election, and they will likely announce it then. Hopefully, we will get our first real look at the console and get some verifications about the specs.

Sony will likely let us know about any other new releases, including games and VR releases.

Is It Worth Upgrading to the PS5 Pro?

The decision of whether or not to upgrade to the PS5 Pro will depend on your gaming needs and budget. The upgraded GPU will likely provide extremely high-quality graphics and faster game speeds that are noticeably better than the standard PS5. However, the console will likely be considerably more expensive and unnecessary if you aren’t looking to upgrade yet, as you will still be able to play all of the new releases on the standard system.
