AirPods 4: What’s New? Enhanced Sound, Health Features, and More
By Ed Malaker
Apple announced the release of the AirPods 4 at the recent Glowtime event, which will result in significant improvements over the AirPods 3 in terms of sound quality, convenience, and health features. Keep reading to learn all of the details.
Enhanced Sound with H2 Chip
Apple’s new H2 chip powers the latest generation of AirPods, and it has improved noise cancellation, better sound, and a new transparency mode that helps ensure you are still aware of the sounds around you. It uses adaption algorithms to process the sound in real-time quickly to sound best with your ear shape. It produces deep bass with no distortion.
Improved Noise Cancellation
The active noise cancellation (ANC) on the AirPods 4 is better than ever, which can help make your listening experience more enjoyable by minimizing distractions from the environment. Additionally, a new feature called conversation awareness detects when someone is speaking to you and lowers the volume automatically so that you can hear the conversation without removing your AirPods. They can also help adjust the tone of the voices so they are easier to understand, even when you aren’t listening to music.
Health-Focused Features
One of the most helpful new features included in the new AirPods is the ability to test your hearing and monitor it over time so you will know quickly about any problems that are developing. You can even use them as hearing aids if you need to, but make sure you talk to a doctor if you notice any problems with your hearing.
More Convenient Charging
You can now charge your AirPods with USB-C charging case, and the case has a speaker that makes it easier to find using Find My.
Battery Life and Durability
The AirPods 4 offer up to 30 hours of battery life with the charging case, a significant upgrade over previous versions. They are also more durable and more resistant to moisture and dust.
