The Raspberry Pi is one of the greatest tools for DIY tech projects, and it has also inspired a multitude of innovative products that leverage its versatility and power to help you get even more out of it right out of the box. Today, we are going to take a look at some of our favorites here at GeekSided.

Pi Terminal-7” by Elecrow

The Pi Terminal is an all-in-one industrial computer featuring a 7-inch 1024×600 IPS display powered by the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 (CM4). Designed for industrial applications, it offers rich interfaces and supports multiple wireless communication protocols, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G, and LoRa. Its IP65-rated front panel ensures dust and water resistance, making it suitable for hostile environments.

For DIY projects, this can’t be beat. It’s like a Raspberry Pi on steroids, with a multitude of additional ports to connect things to and a bright touchscreen. Create an inexpensive home security system with cameras, open-door sensors, and light detectors that you can purchase and connect. Use it as a MIDI controller in your recording studio, a personal computer, or create a weather station. The options are virtually unlimited.

Raspberry Pi 400

The Raspberry Pi 400 is a compact, all-in-one personal computer built directly into a keyboard. It’s easy to use, easy to set up, and portable, making it a fantastic tool for education, coding, and general-purpose computing.

The Raspberry Pi 400 also gives you access to the GPIO pins, too, so it retains all of the functionality of the Raspberry Pi.

AutoPi TMU Device

The AutoPi TMU is for automotive applications. It enables advanced vehicle diagnostics, GPS tracking, and remote control functionalities. The second generation, with a CAN-FD interface and gigabit ethernet, is about to be released.

This tool is perfect for mechanics and home programmers. It’s extendable, has an attractive case, and can help keep your car on the road.

Ploopy’s Open-Source Trackpad

Ploopy’s Trackpad is a customizable seven-inch trackpad powered by the Raspberry Pi RP2040 processor. It supports multi-finger gestures and palm rejection, and its open-source design allows users to modify its functionality and even 3D print different cases.

While it isn’t as customizable as connecting pins, open-source firmware makes it extremely easy to customize the trackpad to have any features you need; even those it doesn’t come with. Repair it by downloading the code again or 3D printing a new case, and rejoice in having a large trackpad that makes it easy to interact with your computer and control your pointer.
