Is Apple secretly linking ‘racist’ and ‘Trump’? Viral glitch sparks controversy

A recent bug in Apple’s voice-to-text function has ignited controversy after social media users noticed an unusual issue. It seems that if you dictate the word “Racist” to your Apple device, it will momentarily auto-correct to say “Trump” before reverting to the word “Racist.”

The glitch was widely shared on TikTok, prompting outrage from Trump supporters and right-wing commentators like Alex Jones, who described it as a “vicious, subliminal attack.” It has also been making a big splash on X, receiving more than six million views, 30K shares, and 13K comments. fMany suggest that Trump should sue Apple.

A quick look through the comments on X shows that the glitch is easily repeatable, and many people have screenshots and videos of Apple phones temporarily interchanging the words, with only a few stating that they were unable to replicate the glitch.

Apple, however, has denied any intentional targeting, attributing the issue to overlapping phonetic models in its software, and they are working on a fix to prevent it from happening in the future. However, for many, the incident has added fuel to the belief that Big Tech companies are trying to push their political views on consumers.

This comes after several other tech companies have had similar problems. For instance, Elon Musk stated that Twitter suppressed content before he took over, and Google has been accused of the same with its search results. Facebook has admitted that it caved to pressure from the Biden administration to alter its feed, and even Amazon has been accused of bias.

However, none seemed to insinuate that “Trump” and “Racist” were different spellings of the same word openly.

Despite the controversy, Apple made significant investments in the U.S. economy, committing $500 billion over four years and creating 20,000 jobs. The company also built a new manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas, aligning itself with Trump’s push for American-based manufacturing.

So, is Apple secretly picking on Trump? While the voice-to-text glitch and DEI decisions may indicate ideological differences, Apple’s economic investments during Trump’s presidency suggest a more complex relationship.
