Sony revealed its new PlayStation Chroma Collection during its State of Play event back in September, and fans are finally able to make pre-orders for the collection, which will arrive on November 7. The collection introduces an eye-catching line of PS5 accessories designed to enhance the aesthetics of the console and controllers. Here’s everything you need to know.

Introduction to the Chroma Collection

The Chroma Collection brings an iridescent design to both the PS5 Slim console covers and the DualSense wireless controllers, providing a fresh new look for PlayStation fans.

Three distinct colors are available, including Chroma Pearl, Chroma Indigo, and Chroma Teal. Each offers shimmering, color-shifting effects that change when viewed from different angles.

Color options and their unique features

  • Chroma Pearl transitions through soft hues of pinks and creams, offering a clean, sleek, but understated look.
  • Chroma Indigo blends deep blues and purples, appealing to fans who want to add a bit of color to the usually monochrome system.
  • Chroma Teal shifts through shades of green, with highlights of yellow-green and blue-green. It is one of the most striking options and is perfect for fans who want their system to stand out and catch the eye.

The creative vision behind the collection

Sony’s design team, including Leo Cardoso and Satoshi Aoyagi, shared insights into the creative process behind the Chroma Collection. They described how they carefully chose each color and refined them to fully complement the controller and console, providing a dynamic and playful finish.

Beyond aesthetics, the design team paid close attention to how the colors would complement the form of both the DualSense controllers and the PS5 Slim console covers. The result is a harmonious blend of hardware and color, with each shade enhancing the natural lines and structure of the devices.

Availability and compatibility

Pre-orders began on October 3, 2024. The Chroma Pearl and Chroma Indigo models will be launched on November 7, 2024, while Chroma Teal accessories will follow in January 2025. You can purchase it directly from direct.playstation.com in regions like the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, and several other European countries. It will also be available through select retailers.

The Chroma Collection console covers are only available for the PS5 Slim and are not suitable for the standard PS5 system. The DualSense controllers have the same functionality as the standard DualSense wireless controllers, including haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and motion sensors. The difference is purely aesthetic.
