What does it do?
The Elecrow Pi Terminal-7 has many features, including multiple connectivity options, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G, and LoRa support, as well as Gigabit Ethernet for high-speed communication. It’s equipped with CAN bus, RS232/RS485, digital I/O, ADC, and relay controls, making it compatible with a variety of industrial devices, from printers to CNC machines and even health monitors.
It also comes with Raspbian OS and Node-RED pre-installed, which makes it ready to go out of the box. The IP65-rated front panel is dustproof and water-resistant, making it suitable for industrial environments, and there is a huge number of sensors available from Elecrow, including cameras, microphones, humidity sensors, light detectors, pressure pads, and much more that you can use with the panel to turn it into just about anything you can imagine.
Elecrow Pi Terminal-7 Pros
- Runs on the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 (CM4), providing reliable performance for automation tasks.
- It supports wired and wireless communication protocols, including Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G, and LoRa.
- CAN bus, RS232/RS485, ADC, relay control, and digital I/O for seamless integration with other industrial systems.
- It has a 7-inch IPS touchscreen with good color accuracy and 5-point capacitive touch.
- Input ports have clear labels for easy access.
- Huge number of available sensors.
Elecrow Pi Terminal-7 Cons
- It doesn’t have a case, so once you make something out of it, you will likely need to purchase or 3D print an enclosure for full environmental protection.
- The fan is a little noisy, especially at first. It did seem to quiet down a little as I used it, but it would likely be too loud to have running all the time to use for something like a DIY security system or weather station. However, there are many fan kits and heat sinks available for the Raspberry Pi, which would make for a great first project.
- I also feel that the power cord is a little short, and you’ll likely need an extension cord to work comfortably with it.
