Grand Theft Auto 5 Approaching 52 Million Units Sold

Grand Theft Auto 5 publisher Take Two Interactive has announced today that Rockstar’s hit open-world game has now shipped nearly 52 million units.

This figure covers across all five platforms which the game released: Playstation 3, Playstation 4, PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One. The PC was the last platform to jump into the mix with Grand Theft Auto 5 releasing for the PC on April 14.

Grand Theft Auto 5 launched for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 back in September 2013 while the Playstation 4 and Xbox One versions released in November 2014.

Rockstar has shipped nearly 6 million units over the past three and a half months thanks in large part to the huge success of the Grand Theft Auto Online Heist update which released on March 10.

Grand Theft Auto Online Heists – a four-player co-op mode for Grand Theft Auto Online that enables players to plan, prepare and execute multi-tiered Heists across Los Santos and Blaine County – as a free update on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.
